SECRETS & GHOST HORSES by Holly McClure is the first book in the Low Country Mystery Series. Thirteen-year-old twins, Hanna and Aislinn Hanover are whisked away from their home and friends in the city to spend the summer in their father's homestead, Hanover Hall in the South Carolina Low Country. They are horrified at the site of the dilapidated antebellum mansion when they arrive. While their parents check out the house, the twins wander down a narrow path where they note a bright patch of red which turns out to be a barn that looks new. Inside, they meet a boy named Donovan who is taking care of two horses. They later learn that Donovan is the ghost of a boy who died trying to rescue the horses from the burning barn.
   You'll want to read how the twins help Donovan bring his murderer to justice and help the horses return home. Along the way the girls solve the mystery of their grandfather's missing wife and their father's missing brother.
   For ages nine and up but adults will enjoy reading this book as well. This reader is looking forward to the second book in the series, SECRETS & THE CONGAREE.
